Wazzum Dating Software 2.0 contains a new Video feature. This video feature works the same way as YouTube.com does. It’s a technology called FFMPEG which basically takes a video file that you have on your computer and when you upload it to your profile, it encodes it and compresses it so that it can be streamed when someone looks at your profile. This replaces the old way of uploading video files and having to wait to download them before viewing them. Because it encodes it and compresses it, you can take a very large video file, encode it and stream it so that it can be played in a flash video player at any Internet speed. So, for all those users on dialup, the now get to watch a video of a member profile without having to wait to download it.
The best thing about this new FFMPEG feature is that it will convert all types of video and audio formats and make it available for streaming in a nice Flash Video Player. The FF in FFMPEG stands for Fast Forward. The other nice thing about the FFMPEG video feature is that you don’t have to pay extra for it. FFMPEG comes already included in Wazzum Dating Software 2.0 at no extra charge.
How does it work you ask? Well, the user uploads the video from the My Media area of their account and then that video goes to the Admin for approval. Only at that time does the video get encoded and compressed and ready for streaming. This cuts down on video conversions that might take up additional server resources. If you delete it, then it won’t need to be converted and thus reducing server utilization.
The only requirement is that your hosting server must have FFMPEG installed. There are a couple other things that you need as well and I have listed those at the bottom of the Dating Software Features page.
